E-Credits--Why do they make them so hard to use?

So I would like the last half hour of my life back.....

I dont get why you can find and use most anything on the website but I can never find nor use my e-credits from the site. I was trying to book a ticket and while I know I have one when I search for e-credits, it comes up with nothing. I call up and get the e-ticket number from Delta. I try plugging that in and it doesnt work. They put me on hold and technical support picks me up. She tells me that I do have an e-ticket credit, and she cant do anything with it so I go on hold again before the reissue desk picks me up. 30 minutes after I first called, I am finally booked with the e-credit.

If anyone from Delta is reading this, please make our lives easier. Your top tier are those who most frequently book and cancel tickets knowing that we will always be able to use the credit later. Please come up with a spot on delta.com where we can accurately see our credits.
