I don't know if there is an increase of comped status or not. I've personally known of people getting comped status a decade ago.

However, NW should be kissing the guy's feet. He's paying $1000 for tickets he could be getting for $300 or less. Both NW and AA have non-stops on that route. Margin wise he's bringing in as much money as PE would.
