As I said in my earlier post, Spanish would be helpful, but I'm not convinced that it's necessary to book a tour if you don't speak it. The Lima-Cuzco-MP route is well trodden by many non-Spanish speaking tourists. Get the Lonely Planet Peru guidebook, read it in advance of your trip and I'm sure you'll do fine.
