Some cities have special views upon landing/takeoff. For instance, if you're flying into National Airport at Washington DC, you'd want to seat on the left because the plane would fly right over Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, which you don't see if sitting on the right. For Cairo, you'd want to sit on the right for a spectacular view of the pyramids on takeoff.
