You've got your fare buckets confused:
"A" is the category for eVIP upgrades as well as mileage upgrades on BOS-SFO. This availability can shift based on the whims of RM.
"X" is the category for EXP and 500-mile upgrades. It will not be released until 100 hrs before flight time (at the earliest).
Usually A is available on BOS-SFO. What date are you flying?

IMO (what w/being an EXP myself) EXP requests should be dealt w/first, then PLT. However, I'm not certain that in reality it would work that way.
