I don't even bother with them for car and hotels. Not only does it waste an hour of my time sorting through hotels with false rate quotes, they dinged me for booking fees. I make my own hotel and car reservations directly with the vendors as we don't central bill those travel items.
I wish I didn't have to use them for hotels either; but corporate incorrectly thinks their saving $ buy forcing us to use AMEX for all travel including air, hotels & rental roller skates (small cars).
I can always bet their hotel pricing even before using the AARP (always asking for reduced prices) Card.
