don't know if that is true for all problems though--some people have posted that the charge went through but they did not get the reservation/ticket confirmation...
I've used my card for international transactions, both online and in person, and had no problems except for the Trenitalia site. The TripAdvisor suggestion may be relevant in some cases, but it doesn't seem to explain the problems I (and my wife) had...unless the blocking is very selective
