My son is indeed on the same PNR. Infact he's the other half of my 2-4-1 AMEX booking.
And the fact that I tried to assign another random seat on the u/d with the infant but failed suggests that the policy has been switched (although you would have thought if this was the case all seats should be greyed out when I try to select).
