Not sure about UA's policy, but if you can't catch an earlier flight, by all means don't just sit at the airport all day! Go there to check your bags at short-term storage and then catch a cab to Las Olas Blvd or the beach -- it's just 10 minutes away and hanging out there will make the end of your cruise memory way nicer than sitting at the terminal for 8 hours!
