My wife & I come back from a relaxing 8 day cruise on the 11th.

There are only 2 non-stops a day between FLL and ORD on United/Ted. We are on the late 4:45p one.

Our cruise gets in early (as they all do). My question is, is there any chance of us getting standby if we ask to try to get home earlier? It would definitely be a connection flight, but it would get us home earlier than the 4:45p flight would.

There are several options on UAL's website.

Will they stand you by with a different routing (i.e. FLL to ORD original, vs, and FLL to IAD to ORD, etc?) Or are we stuck hanging out in the FLL airport all day?

I am a premier, if that changes things.
