I had an interesting side bar to this earlier this week, as mentioned elsewhere.

Was booked DFW-LAX-SYD. All upgraded.

Wanted to fly DFW-ORD-LAX-SYD.

There were NF seats on the DFW-ORD-LAX legs.

The LAX-SYD flight or time or seating was not changing.

Phoned 1K line at 9am to make these same day changes.

Response - "Cost will be $100 a ticket".

Reason - "Because this is an INTERNATIONAL ticket."

I pointed out the change affected simply a US internal sector, not the LAX-SYD and agent point blank refused, and noisily noted record that the fee must apply. I will email 1K desk on this as it appears wrong or 'hair splitting' at least information.
