are cordially invited to the Great State of Alaska. If you do much flying up here, aborted landings become almost routine. I've never had a "go around" in the lower 48, but I have experienced them in ANC, JNU, SIT, and BRW.
(ANC was when a cargo 747 took too long to clear the runway...the others were all weather/visibility related.)
BTDT, more times than I care to remember, three in SIT alone. That airport scares the *&%@&*out of me - for those who have never had the pleasure - the runway is on an island and takes up just about bit of that island, little room for anything else - I swear it looks to me like the wings are hanging out over the ocean, the frigid, deep, dark ocean <<<<shudder>>>>
