In Nov I booked july award BE seats for a BCN out FCO in itin but DL had nothing available. They found me BE Allitalia but out of ORD. Okay, no big deal. I can get to ORD if it means BE over the pond.

Allitalia canceled the flight. I only discovered this because in Jan I was comparing their 767 BE with their 777 BE on line. I could not find my flight at their web site. I called Delta and they found out it was canceled but they did not inform Delta (they are supposed to from what the medallion desk told me).

DL got me out FLL > ATL > BCN out and FCO > JFK > FLL in . I was floored that my exact dates I originally wanted were now a reality. He told me it was a "platinum override" but I thought he was joking... you know... wink wink! I did not know it actually existed.

He added a editorial to the conversation "Next time you are on DL metal and see an Allitalia plane out the window, be glad you are not on it!" I roared!
