Two points: 1) most people prefer to use Hongqiao Airport because it is closer in and has ~5x as many flights; 2) KA doesn't fly intra-China,... only to/from HK.

Now, I'd like to switch gears and comment on an opinion that's been expressed -- and seconded/thirded/... -- both here and in similar threads: that flying in China is better than flying in the US.

I couldn't disagree more. While I except the notion that typical onboard service is more inspired and enthusiastic in China, this is a minor point with respect to the big picture. Furthermore, I would choose the US model --surly employees and all -- any day.

In short, US carriers are significantly better in several respects:

1) consumer rights (i.e. the power of the consumer relative to the company)
2) timely information regarding delays/cancelations and the capacity to make adjustments on the fly
3) general profressionalism

(I won't expand on these points here --though I could write a novel on each-- for the sake of brevity.)
