Turns out most if not all pax ahead of me were connecting - I asked a few folks in the A queue.
But,
miraculously, I ended up with the single best seat on the plane, at least in my view. Walked in and got 11C, the exit row aisle, which I prefer to 12F. I think it's because the FA was standing in that row and people probably figured the seat was taken. That's happenned to me before, though not with a B boarding pass.
Ironically, I almost didn't get 11C on the return even with an A2. I'd gone for BS as I anticipated issues on the return. There was a gentleman with A1 and his wife with A3. Once we got on the plane I let his wife go ahead of me and join him. Real tall guy so he went for 12F (no seat in front) even as his wife was pushing him towards 11 B and C. Luckily he held firm and I got my desired seat (whew!).
Would have been quite the irony to get 11C with a B2 but not with an A2.
I guess the seating gods were with me.
