Of course this raises an interesting ?. If the letter alone means the certs on valid beyond printed date--this means the check in/gate agent can accept them. Unless I bring a copy of the letter (asd there are no copying mahcines at the gates, etc..) with me for them to keep--they do not have any physical document showing the extension. Thus other than the discretion of the agent--there really is no reason why they couldn't accept expired certs.

When I have had certs "extendeded", I carry a copy of the letter for each cert. This way, if I get an agent that is worried, he/she cah staple a copy of the letter to each cert.
I have never had an agent request more than one copy of the letter. But I have had some friendly agents that I have checked in with "every week" tell me that they really didn't need a letter of extension....
