I might be one of those who have referred to the Air France event at YYZ, as to my untrained mind, I see striking similarities between the two events.

I do of course bow to your superior knowledge of the events “Spottie” ^, & I genuinely do mean that ^^

But I feel you raise an excellent point, in that there are many here who have not read the official report & as a result do not know that facts. But still seem unable to accept those who question the hailing of the BA crew as heroes.

We do not know the facts & will not know the facts until the official report is out. So while everyone got off the plane fit & healthy, there are probably many, many more contributing factors yet to come out in the wash.

From an outsiders point of view, all I can say of the two incidents, is that Lady Luck sure smiled on both sets of crew & passengers. As many have said on here, the end result is what matters & that is, the flight crash landed & everyone got off the plane alive. Just as they did on the Air France accident at YYZ

Which is testament to the training & courage of the crews in question.

As to if the correct procedures were followed, or if the flight deck crews contributed to the accident itself, that is for the professionals to decide & we as passengers can only wait to read the findings.

There have been in the past a number of incidents where magnificanet airmanship was displayed & the flightcrew hailed as heros, only to find the finger of blame being pointed at them as the investigation developed. As BOH pointed out there was the “the 1983 Gimli Glider incident”

Also the Air Transat A330 that suffered fuel starvation & glided to a safe landing in the Azores. But if my memory serves me correctly, that while that crew were “Heroes” for the landing, it later transpired that they mishandled the situation & contributed to the situation.

Jenbel The point I was trying to make, in response to your post, is that while I don’t know the incident you refer to, I’m quite sure, mistakes aside, the crew did the best job they could at the time with the information at hand, in a very stressful situation & that they tried everything in their power to not die that day.

Apologies if I seemed presumptuous or offensive in my reply to you

Back on topic to the BA38, we will just have to wait until the official report comes out, before we will know exactly what happened & I think we should all keep an open mind until then.

In the meantime, as we continue to fly, all we can do is hope that we do not get caught up in a similar event. But if we do, I pray that Lady Luck will smile on us like she did before & provide us with another miracle escape.
