I’m sure that crew you refer to did the best job they could under the circumstances they found themselves in. No two situations are the same & luck along with very good fortune plays a huge part in it.
Now, that really is speculating without knowing the facts I deliberately left out anything by which the incident could be identified!

In the situation I'm talking about, the crew made the wrong decision in the heat of the moment... no-one knows why, since they aren't here to explain themselves. But you look at the incident, at what had happened and all you can think is 'If only they had done A and not B, they could have survived' And I've cried as I've read the transcript of the comms of the flight, because ultimately, if I had to point the finger, I wouldn't point it at the poor bloody crew, who were given a bum deal as a result of someone else's decision, taken well before they even took off that day... I'd point it at the guy who refused to accept a safety recommendation because he thought something looked pretty... and as a result, a number of people are dead because he was more concerned about aesthetics than safety

Crew do make mistakes. In the heat of the moment, they have to decide what to do and very often decide instantly. And sometimes they get it wrong. And because of that, when they do get it right, we praise them for it. The crew of BA38 did it right, so my point was it isn't speculation to praise them for doing a fantastic job in landing the beast in such a way that everyone walked away... sadly, it really doesn't happen like that everytime I'm afraid I'm not being unfair - I'm being realistic.
