It happens on the ATL-LGW route sometimes. Its a pretty random occurance and what they do with the cabin varies.

they either...
-keep it closed if not enough seats are sold
-open it up at OLCI (we got three seats in the F Cabin this way over the summer)
-open it at the airport if there are a lot of opups, first come first serve
