According to your conspiracy theory, Host Marriott spent $321 million in order to ruin Hyatt's reputation with Diamonds.

All the large hotel holding companies have hotels that aren't part of their own chains. Starwood owns some hotels operated as Hilton, Days Inn and Clarion. Host Marriott owns properties operated as Hyatt, etc. And you know why they do it? To make a profit. These companies are in all aspects of the hotel business, including real estate, and sometimes it makes sense to keep the current brand and operating agreements on the properties that they purchase.

Personally, that property has always treated me very nicely.

Any property operated as a Hyatt and participating in the Gold Passport program is required to provide the benefits of the program.
