I stayed at Radisson SAS properties in Frankfurt, Vienna, Helsinki, Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm and by far the worst (and most expensive) was the Royal Viking Stockholm. The only decent thing about it was the location. Everything else was immensely substandard.

With the exception of one nice service manager (a trainee no less) the front desk staff were either all unfriendly, incompetent or both, ranging from the man who went into the back office to get some maps of the city for me and never came back out to the vacant girl who seemed to be perpetually in a dream state. Aside from the friendly trainee, the only person who seemed remotely to be efficient was another lady who never smiled. I suspect they may have been influenced by the behaviour of the manager on duty, who while guests were standing around waiting to be served he was slouching against the checkin podiums chatting with staff. Simply ridiculous.

Breakfast was a farce. Easily the worst breakfast spread across all of the Radisson SAS hotels stayed at. The staff just stood around leaning against the walls. Requests for refills of hot water, toast bread etc which ran out quickly were met with indifferent shrugs.

On the whole, I'd have to say that the friendliest and most efficient staff in the whole place was the porter! In contrast, all the staff at the SAS in Copenhagen (city centre, not the one by the casino) were an absolute delight and a more striking contrast to their Stockholm counterparts you couldn't have imagined. Would not shy away from Radisson SAS hotels generally, but definitely will never return to Stockholm Royal Viking.
