On more than one occasion my flight doesn't even get announced nor does it show up on the Flight Display systems. In fact, my only indication as how to get to the gate where my flight was boarding was to follow a group of people native of the destination I was going to. That strategy sometimes works, but its impractical in some places (e.g. if you're flying to New York ex LHR where passengers are more or less the same).
