What are the best seats to choose in economy? Is it the 2 seat arrangement at the back of the plane? e.g. 50 B & C?
Not if you are a non US resident, you want to be at the front of the cabin (or an olympic sprinter) otherwise you will spend an age in the INS queue.

Yes 52 or 53 B & J are good for leg room but not unless you can manage to get to sleep, it can get v. noisy back there thanks to the proximity to the lavs. 50 isn't any good as there is a 50A & K, and the same is true for 51 there is a 50 A & K in front of you preventing leg stretching. However for extra storage it is good as there is no A/K seat beside you.

I did do a day flight in 52C and it was okay, I was in B but the girl in C had recently broken her left ankle (it was in lots of plaster) so I volunteered to swap.
