Unhappy Why is Starwood selling their best locations in New England to Wyndham?!?

I know I'm a bit late, having just heard about the demise of BOTH the Sheraton South Portland (Maine) & Four Points Hyannis Resort (Cape Cod) to Wyndham, but I hope *wood has some kind of a long-term plan in these markets...

I, like many who posted in the separate threads about each hotel closing, have had enough stays between the two hotels each year to almost make platinum right then. I know (as William stated) there are apparently legal reasons for not announcing sooner that the hotels were closing...but *wood had BETTER be planning ahead here!

I freely admit that the quality of both hotels was sub-par...however it's the LOCATION that makes those hotels desirable!!! The 4pts Hyannis had the BEST location of any hotel on that part of Cape Cod (the end of Main St. & next to the big outdoor venue). As much as I bashed the hotel for being sub-par in room quality (it DEFINITELY needed renovation!) I've had a lot of great trips there.

Same with the Sheraton in Portland, ME. Again, the hotel needed MAJOR renovation, but it was in a great area...and (even more importantly) was the only *wood in the greater Portland market.

With both hotels going to Wyndham, along with *wood seeming to lose interest in New England in general, I'm seriously contemplating moving to Wyndham (and even I can't believe I just typed that!)

Does anyone have any info that there are new hotels coming to Cape Cod and/or Portland, ME? I just can't believe *wood would give up on these MAJOR markets (even though they are primarily seasonal).
