FWIW, with the new meter system, my normal fare will be basically unchanged. Currently it is a base of $6.50 with a $1 gas surcharge (set to expire at the end of Jan, but sure to get extended) and often times a 1 rush hour charge. Call it $7.50 on the low end. The new fare is estimated to be $7.00. I expect there will be some traffic at the times I travel so that will go up a little. $7.50 or $8 is what I predict.

Bottom line is no change for me, but the cabbies will have a harder time trying to rip me off.
