Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, very much so
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?Booked a standard room, don't remember the name--and received a corner executive suite with the living room overlooking the Amstel River.
How are the rooms?
The Executive Suite is beautifully appointed--You come into an entry hallway with a half bath. Then the living room is very nice with stereo and tv,the famous minibar (huge liquor bottles plus free snacks). Large windows with view of Amstel River.. Nice bedroom with King bed, wardrobe and television, large bathroom with separate shower and tub and nice Occitane toiletries plus robes and slippers.
.
How is the exec. lounge?
No lounge--Having a lounge or breakfast included would have made a perfect stay.
What was good and what was bad?
Good: Wonderful reception--escorted to suite, glasses of champagne and chocolate mousse cake were delivered to our suite to celebrate our anniverary. RA gift was a bowl of fruit and a see through box of chocolates with dutch shoe decoration; received a welcome letter.. Minibar restocked. Turndown service was complete with a room refresh including new toiletries and truffles on the bed. The ambiance of the hotel was great will a lovely lobby and staircase and probably the nicest, most homey hallways I have seen--comfy chairs, tables with fruit. Did not visit the gym or pool but looked nice. Was told the suite was redecorated and now had an expresso machine and tea making facilities.
Bad: Our suite was a corner suite (which was nice) but the bedroom was on the street side with noise of passing trams. Looked at the menu of the brasserie but was very pricey and didnt see anything that appealed. Would have appreciated a lounge or breakfast included.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
The nightly room price was 395 Euros plus tax for the lowest price room. We used a BOGO for the second night so it was reasonable. While I thought the experience was terrific, I would not return without a BOGO or doing a reward stay.
