Booked 2 Classic Rooms (1 Advance Purchase EUR135 and 1 PC Rewards) and received same (see comments below)

How are the rooms?

The rooms were standard for this hotel. They were spacious for standard rooms with a small sofa. One had the garden view (read that rooftop) and one (the purported Executive Room) had a river view.

How is the Exec. lounge?

Not included, but offered at 45EUR/nt. There was some confusion on email instructions to the hotel, and we ended up using the club without charge. The food was surpisingly good, and we could have made a dinner out of the evening offering. The space is relatively small for a hotel this size. There are 2 internet terminals in the club. The staff were very friendly.

What was good and what was bad?

Good: The location is very favorable for tourist activities. I priced out the HIX which was half the rate, but chose this based on the possiblity of upgrades and location. The bedding was very comfortable, with Elemis amenities in the bathroom. The mini bar was adequately stocked.

No welcome gift, but a nice bowl of fruit with a bottle of Czech white wine.

Bad: This was a special occasion trip for my collegue who had recently retired. I emailed the hotel with the situation asking for some assistance in making the trip memorable. I did receive a prompt reply ^ indicating we had been upgraded to RA "very nice rooms" with an offer to basically buy a bottle of wine or flowers. Gee thanks...

Upon arrival, the night manager advised us we were in junior suites. Well, the rooms were standard and executive rooms (per the website reservations profile). In addition to the manager BS'ing us about the type of room, they were just standard size rooms. The thing that made the other room Executive, I guess, was the river view. I asked the manager about club access, and was told "no" in the most matter of fact manner I can ever remember. He did offer to sell us access.

My main beef was the snow job on the upgrade when there wasn't any. Considering the special occasion and status, I would have reasonably expected more. Also, the dubious "Executive Room" description seems to be following a disturbing trend I've seen in other IC properties. Not good...


Value for money? Would you return?

All in all, I could have done better with the HIX if I was staying by myself. The money just doesn't justify it. There are better luxury properties now in PRG. The only saving grace here was the free minibar. Hardly worth an extra 50 Euro.
