I have stayed at the Renaissance Vinoy before and it is a very nice hotel. But I'm not sure I would put it at the top for a "family" vacation. With 8 and 10 year olds in tow as the OP mentions, I think a beach resort like the Harbor Beach Marriott would probably be much more enjoyable for the kids. Now if it is a vacation with just the spouse, I might can see an arguement (I would still disagree , but I could understand the arguement.)
