I wonder if anyone has ever received an upgrade in reality by ever "tipping" a gate agent or FA:

3) Slip a crisp bill into your ticket folder. Figure on $50 domestic, $100 international.

Never tried it myself -- would have thought it might be a tad illegal for some reason...
