It is dreadful.
Points regularly fail to post. As you say, the retailers often say they haven't got 'the machine', or it's not working. Of course, BAA say all you have to do is send in your receipts for credit. Two problems: 1 - the points are often worth less than the postage, so why bother?; 2 - why should we do their work for them without recompense?
The coup de grace is using BAA's website to book services such as car parking. You'd think you'd be certain to get the points, right? WRONG! I'm still waiting for credit for such transactions going back 4 months.
Also, the points expire after an absurdly short time.
The scheme could be useful if it delivered, but it doesn't.
Oh, if you ever get the points credited, they can be exchanged for a number of items including miles with VS, CO and BD.

I agree wholeheartedly with all the above.
As for parking, same situation here - points NEVER post when you book via the web.
Incidentally, McDonalds no longer accepts the card, a fact which BAA has confirmed to me in writing. So they should now change all their advertising to read "Sometimes, when you shop at the airport, you might get points, IF the retailer has got the machine"
But I won't boycott the program, because when points do post, the discount coupons for the trains are very valuable to me.
