This seems like the best option, but I've only recently joined plat, so would I not need to wait until renewal time, otherwise will have to pay for two card fees. If this isn't the case, and I would get fee waived, pro-rata, then it might be worth it.

Also, since I get paid in pounds, not a major issue for having a UK card, except that some websites (e.g. paypal) insist on having a US based card, for which IDC would be ideal.

Finally, two other issues:
1. I have asked for several additional cards (e.g. plat for my wife, golds for other family etc) so they benefit from travel insurance. Would all these need to be re-cancelled and re-applied for if I switch to IDC?
2. The main reason I was concidering US plat was purely for domestic 2for1 programme, which neither UK or IDC plat offer. So it doesn't help with that issue.
