Why should someone in a $145 coach seat going from Chicago to Seattle get as many points as someone who just laid out $1,000+ to get a bedroom from Chicago to Seattle?
I assume if Amtrak used a miles system, they'd give a mileage bonus for first class travel (including sleeping cars), the way the airlines do...
...but probably not a 500%+ bonus, as in the above example!
I just hope jackal hasn't given them any ideas about switching to a
time-based system wherein you get fewer points the longer you spend on a train, given that it's so enjoyable.
