My wife and I will be flying from DFW to FCO, with a 1:15 turnaround in Gatwick. Our AA flight is scheduled to get in at 7:45a and the outbound BA flight leaves at 9am. Do you guys thing that is enough time to make the turn? Should i try to get seats in the front?
my choices are fly in the back in a 2 seat pair, or fly in the front of econ as the bookend of one of the 5 seats (yuck!).
1:15 is doable, but tight. As you are connecting international to international, you can use the flight connections security line, which is normally faster than going landside and passing through normal security, but at peak times in the morning can take 30 minutes.
Walking times from plane to security and on to the next flight can be as long as 20 minutes for each leg (worst case if you are at the furthest gates over the bridge) or as little as 5 - 10 minutes.
I have done plane to plane in <20 minutes, but it's also taken me 45.
Don't forget that at least for now, LGW remains a one item of hand luggage airport, unlike LHR and most of the rest of the UK.
