Since we are bumping health threads today... just a reminder to do your self-exams!

I went for my annual well-woman today and I've been a wee bit lax lately about doing self-exams. I had sworn on everything I held dear after my first mammogram came back suspect and I got called in for a second round of imaging on my left breast (I swear, I was so freaked out for the week it took to get me back in!).

The second one came back fine and they told me (in September 2006) they would see me again in five years.

Well... now I'm off for another round as my PA found a lump that I hadn't detected myself - sure enough, when she had me feel it I'm like "no, that hasn't always been there and no, I don't know how long it has been like that". What's also funny is that it doesn't feel like what I traditionally associated lumps with feeling like so its not the usual fibrocystic type I'm accustomed to.

Hopefully it will just be like last time and it will be dense tissue that has shifted but its a wake up call to remember again that these self-diagnostics are critical.
