I can't imagine why this would be necessary. The AAdvantage program has no provision for upgrading a passenger on a paid international coach fare into the First Class cabin. It would
have to be an operational upgrade, for which there is no charge/deduction. Besides, I don't think gate agents or even check-in agents have the ability to deduct miles or eVIPs.
