Just to reiterate dankyone's post above yours, this is not correct. AA's free challenge does not include elite benefits until after you successfully complete the challenge. US grants those benefits during the challenge, so it's not unreasonable that they charge for them.

To me, the program is what it is. FTers should use the information to their advantage, as with everything else around here!
