Possible to have UK and US plat at same time?

I have a UK-issued Plat charge card, but am spending a lot of time in the US for work. I don't want to give up the UK card (despite higher fees etc) because of the excellent insurance it offers, which is not available of US card.

However, my wife and I will probably be making 3-4 US domestic return trips (in economy) per year, and I was wondering whether it would be worthwhile getting a US plat card also, since we would probably cover the $450 fee. The MR 'earn' rate is also more generous, at 1MR pt/$ rather than per UKP. Of course, if the domestic ticket thing is available for UK cards, so much the better.

My question is would Amex have a problem with me holding two plat cards, one UK, one US? Also, what are the financial criteria used for getting US plat card? My salary is still paid in UKP to my UK account, would this count for any salary criteria Amex have (as they do in UK)?

thanks,

tb
