Free travel could even be a one-way SFO-LAX flight after 4 return trans-cons, which would make the points worth even less. Then they wouldn't be much different than UA

Would it be too optimistic to expect that the free flight would be in the same class and route? This would make them worth around $0.125 each (single award), or even $0.25 each (return award). A 12.5% award/discount doesn't sound too far fetched, but I doubt it'd be 25%.
I wouldn't be too surprised if Virgin just went for a simple (and generous) 12.5% award as their FF program (similar to Southwest's). Although they do have the ability to offer things like free Internet etc for members with status, which would be enticing for frequent/business fliers.
I hope they come out with some info soon.. the suspense is killing me. Although to be honest, I don't fly Virgin for the FF program
