In December, Sri Lanka cancelled the work permit of the British boss of national carrier SriLankan Airlines after it refused seats to President Rajapaksa and his entourage on a return flight home from a private trip to Britain, saying the seats were booked up due to heavy holiday traffic.

Jan 20, Monaragala: Death toll of the Monaragala bomb blast rose to 28...Tamil Tigers bombed a public transport bus targeting civilians including school children at Okkampitiya, Monaragala in southern Sri Lanka last Wednesday...Over 60 others suffered injuries in the attack...the Tigers have killed 44 civilians in the Monaragal and Thanamalwila areas this week.
