I've read on amtraktrains.com that roomettes 3-6 on the Lakeshore Limited are recommended over roomettes 1-2, because 1-2 are nearer to the coffee machine and tend to be noisier.

Do some of these rooms have a better view of the scenery, either NYP>CHI or CHI>NYP, or does the orientation of the sleeper car vary on different runs?
