Ok color me cynical - and in fairness I rarely stay at RIs so the changes won't really affect me.
But cutting back 1 night & saying oh but we're giving the other nights more food (yet to be determined from anecdotal evidence so far) is NOT an enhancement, regardless of our good friend socrates sticking up for it.
To be blunt - cutting back one night is cutting back. 'Nuf said.
I'm not saying oh this is it for Marriott like others like to do, but I've got to wonder if some folk can get similar rates at other chains who also offer social hours more nights a week, they may start to look at the other chains.
Ironically enough - I do have an RI stay coming up in May & experiencing the social hour that everyone talked about last year was something I was looking forward to & one (not the only reason in fairness) I booked it. Now that there won't be one, I'm rethinking the stay there & will check out other properties. I may well still end up there, but until now wouldn't have occurred to me to look elsewhere.
For those who do stay at RIs, please post on the Roll Call thread re: your social hour experiences - and be specific, so we can truly gauge about the new 'enhanced' food offerings.
Cheers.
