My company told me there were 4 explosions within about 5 minutes of our offices during the last week and after an internal security review we've been barred from travel to CMB (we have a sophisticated corporate security group and their recommendations are independent of govt recommendations). None of these explosions were reported BTW and nobody knows for sure how many others have occurred. iIwas told today it's a "wrong place wrong time" concern. i dont care what travel agents say (especially the ones sending the busloads of germans to Bentota Beach), my dozen or so coworkers in cmb are my good friends and they are living with this. Their advice is more valuable than a TA! I would stick to airport or negombo area.
