Simply put, it was nowhere near as nice as my previous stays (2003 and 2005/6).

No suite upgrade (not a problem -- wasn't expected over Xmas and New Year's week), but I was givne a city view room on a low floor (14). I expect a river view room on a high floor as an alternative to a suite.

They used to offer a very lavish welcome amentity for Platinums, including nuts, chocolate, wine and fresh fruit. This time, there was only fruit. Moldy fruit, at that.

The bed is below the standard of Westin, Sheraton and 4 Points (let alone St. Regis). The mattress was hard and there was no divet -- just two sheets surrounding a thin wool blanket.

Room servicing / turn-down was inconsistent. Sometimes we got water, sometimes not. Sometimes only one water.

The concierges were okay. Juan and Jullien were very good, but Gustavo was rude and dismissive when my fiance called him a few days befrope we arrived to help us get ferry tickets. It took intervention from the Platinum Concierge to get him to help us.

All in all, it was fine, but compared with previous stays, it is slipping.
I just got back from my first stay at the Park Tower and I was ver satisfied with almost everything. I am only a SPG Gold and reception was great, I was introduced to guest relations person and concierges, everone was very friendly and helpful.

I was given a room on the 18th floor with a city view, had a complimentary bottle of Malbec in room plus a nice fresh bowl of fruit.
On a side note, none of the rooms shown on the website are standard rooms, they are all suites, the rooms are very nice but nothing like what is shown, I had a king bed, sofa and table, desk and chair.
The butler would come by at least once a day to see if I needed anything and turndown service was consistent.
My only disappointment was in the lobby bar, it was very nice but service was not good, had to look around all the time for wait staff to get another drink.
I would repeat, thanks
