Air Asia's seat pitch is incredibly small. Fortunately, their slightly skankified flight attendants and provocative in-flight sales circulars provide adequate diversion. Plus, you'll get used to the cramped quarters if you are at a bus-serviced gate (at BKK Air Asia even uses regular city busses, not the wide airport ones) and the seat won't seem so bad.
FYI: if you have to cancel an Air Asia ticket they will now refund the airport tax but still won't refund any of the fuel surcharges or administrative fees
