THis happens all the time on the Beech Craft. I don't think it's quite the same on a larger plane but I could be wrong since most flights are near capacity these days.

I'd say the issue between a 320 and 321 is the row that has the FA jump seat and the rows where the exits are located. 320's have double exit rows back to back while the 321 doesn't
