I remember traveling with my parents in the 70's, Duty Free was the buzzword. We used to buy tons of things because either it was so much cheaper or because you could not find them anywhere else. Duty free shopping was part of the trip and we would allow for a couple of hours for shopping.
Nowadays you can get most of that stuff most anywhere and probably at a better price.
