So I Got Called Out for "Post Padding"
Randy,
I have been a member since October 2006, although my interest in FlyerTalk didn't really become material until recently when I achieved for the first time 1k status on United Airlines. After chatting with a friend I learned how valuable SWU’s are and that I could potentially “trade” these upgrades on FlyerTalk after achieving a post count of 90. I feverishly made a bunch of posts to meet this threshold, but as a result of this haste the quality of my posts did take a dive. After having access to the Coupon Connection for a few days, the moderators called me out on post padding and reduced my post count by approximately 60%, hence putting me below the post count threshold for access to CC.
While this was a little bit annoying, I did realize my folly and somewhat paradoxically it caused me to further value FlyerTalk. I realized that moderators and users of FlyerTalk are serious about keeping content relevant, orderly, informative etc.. In response to my “formal warning” from wharvey, I did reflect on all of the business and personal travel that I have done over the past years and realized I that I have a deep base of knowledge to share with other FT members, as well as the ability to ask good questions as I certainly don’t know everything!
I have read your post likening airline FF programs to the benefits available to members of FT that demonstrate a certain level of contribution to this online community. And this is where I must ask the question: given that since my “formal warning” I have corrected my posting behavior and gotten my post account above the 90-count threshold with contributing posts, should I now have access to Coupon Connection? My post count has been above 90 for several says now and I still do not have access to CC.
This might be a technology fluke, but I also realize that it very well might be due to my “old” posting habits. Assuming the latter is the case, I kindly ask that you reconsider my access to CC and other benefits available to “frequent” FT users. After contemplating some of the “nonsense” I posted, I definitely have no intention of again posting in such a manner. I value what FT has to offer and would like to continue to be a contributing member.
Thank you for your time,
DarkHelmetII
