Architecturally the Ben was magnificent. A true gem! Anyone from the area know what is happening with it? Last I knew it was being turned into condos it think.
It's been empty for 4 years. Only the restaurants on the 1st floor & basement have remained open.

That'd be "made
back into an upscale hotel." It was once one of the nicest hotels on the SF Peninsula. Though all that's left is the main building between 3rd & 4th Streets, it used to extend all the way to 9th Street. The city's park, between 5th & 9th, used to be the hotel's garden.
Lots of history behind that hotel, hope they can bring it back, but it'd be bucking the trend for their downtown -- other than the new theater & Cold Stone, businesses have been leaving for the last 7 years.
