I had no problem getting the old style travel credits in DFW on 12/26.

From what other people have said, it seems to depend on the station whether you can get travel credits or the free ticket.

However, on 12/26 I was readin my Departure Management card and it said something along the line that compensation would be in the form of travel credits or *in select markets* a free ticket. The wording on the DM card made it seem that travel credits were available everywhere, and the free ticket was optional in some areas. So maybe you could use the DM card to push getting the credits.
