Is the correct interpretation therefore that both T & U have to be available on the flight to which you want to switch?
FWIWif you can now MFU one way, and you can re-credit that miles for the whole journey if you can cancel before the outbouand it does seem a bizarre quirk that you can't re-credit one direction only.
